Preparing for a Star Party

We will be in touch by phone and Email prior to your event to help prepare for a smooth evening.

You can expect us to arrive 60 minutes early in order to get set up, and to coordinate the Star Party with any other activities that might be going on. We may even want to come by the day before to get familiar with the lay of the land and lighting in the area.

The telescope equipment is quite heavy and requires that drive close to the set-up location. It takes 45-60 minutes to set up the telescopes and be ready for viewing. We prefer to do set up in daylight hours.

You should do their best to arrange for the site to be as dark as possible by turning off or covering outdoor lighting & closing curtains. Have you ever stepped outside into the dark from a brightly lit room and found yourself blind as a bat? After a few minutes did you notice that you could actually see pretty well? This is your eyes becoming 'Dark Adapted'. For most people, you only need five or six minutes to be able to see hundreds of stars, but, if you want to see the faint wonders such as nebula and galaxies, it can take 30 – 40 minutes to adjust.
